The Regina Pats finished off their 2019 preseason tournament on Saturday night with a 5-4 shootout loss to the Swift Current Broncos at the Brandt Centre.

The Pats opened the scoring early, Austin Pratt chipped home a rebound at 2:36 to make it 1-0. Ryker Evans drew the lone assist and Regina took that lead into the first intermission. In the second, Dawson Holt picked up his first of the preseason to make it 2-0, 11 seconds later Duncan Pierce potted his second and the Pats led by three. Blake Allan picked up assists on both goals. Swift Current got one back on a breakaway from Joona Kiviniemi at 10:28, but three minutes later Holt scored his second of the game on a great pass from Sloan Stanick and the Pats led 4-1. In the third, the Broncos scored twice in the span of 1:17 to get to within a goal at 4-3. With three minutes left, Swift Current completed the comeback with a powerplay goal from Tyler Smithies to make it 4-4 and the game needed overtime. The extra period solved nothing and in the shootout, Matthew Ward scored the lone goal and the Broncos took the win, 5-4 the final.

The Pats outshot the Broncos 40-26, the powerplay was oh for five and the penalty kill was four for five. Austin Pratt, Dawson Holt and Blake Allan led the offence for Regina with two points each. Matthew Kieper made 10 saves on 11 shots in a half game of work, Dean McNabb came in and stopped 11.
