Training Camp Day Four Recap

Regina, Saskatchewan – Day Four of Regina Pats Training Camp saw a new face as defenceman Dmitry Sinitsyn arrived in Regina last night after a 21-hour transit.  The Russian defenceman was added to Team Blue’s roster as it looked to remain undefeated against Team White which was still in search of its first win.

White didn’t get the win, but earned a tie in the contest courtesy of two markers from Connor Gay.  Team Blue’s Carson Samoridny bookended Gay’s goals with a pair as the two incumbent Pats accounted for all the scrimmage’s scoring.

Goaltending was key in the low scoring affair as the battle for spots on the Pats roster continues to heat up.  Dawson MacAuley is one of the 19-year olds in camp looking to earn the starting job for the Pats and is enjoying the experience.

“I’ve been to WHL camps before, but this is a different competition than what I’m really used to, but at the same time I don’t want to think about it too much.  I just want to go out there and play my game.  I don’t want to worry too much about what everyone else is doing because that might throw my game off a little bit.”

In the afternoon scrimmage, Team Red would take its place atop the camp standings with its second win.  Jack Rodewald powered the offense with a hat-trick in the 4-3 victory over Team Blue.

To finish off the scrimmage portion of camp, Team Red would once again come out on top with a 5-2 win against Team White.  Chandler Stephenson and Dryden Hunt both scored twice for the winning side.

Next up for the Pats hopefuls is the Prairie Mobile Blue and White Game tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.  Make it a full day of Regina sports by stopping in at the Blue and White Game before heading to Mosaic for the Labour Day Classic.  Entry is just $2 at the doors which open at 10:00 a.m. at the Cooperators Centre.  Proceeds from the game go towards the Pats Education Fund.
