2014 marked a new chapter in the storied history of the Regina Pats Hockey Club when Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group purchased the team.  QCSEG is made up of five local businessmen committed to building a championship franchise on and off the ice.  Read on to learn more about the members of Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group.

Anthony Marquart


Royalty Developments Ltd.

Anthony Marquart is the President of Royalty Developments Ltd., a western-based real estate development, investment and management company with its head office in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Anthony’s volunteer efforts include board member positions with the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District, an organization committed to improving conditions for businesses and those who work, shop, live and play in downtown Regina and the Globe Theatre Society, a national centre of excellence in the production of theatre-in-the-round and in fostering the work of Saskatchewan artists.

In addition to his work and volunteer efforts, Anthony’s social responsibility has him giving back to the community by donating both his time and profits to charities, schools and organizations that embody the true spirit of making the city of Regina and province of Saskatchewan a better place.

Anthony and his wife Nanette have four children, Kenneth, Mila, Vianne and Colin.


Todd Lumbard


Speers Funeral and Cremation Services

Todd Lumbard was born in Brandon, Manitoba and attended school there.  As a goaltender he played midget hockey with the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox, SK and junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Regina Pats.  Todd was drafted by the New York Islanders in the fourth round, 84th overall in 1981.  He went on to play three years in the farm system of the Islanders, with a short stint in the NHL in 1985.  While attending University of Manitoba he served as an assistant coach with the Bisons men’s hockey team.

Following his playing career, Todd joined the family funeral business and today the family owns and operates funeral homes, cemeteries and crematories in Brandon, Regina and Winnipeg.  Todd is a Past Chairperson of the Funeral and Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan and is the current President of the Saskatchewan Board of Funeral Homes. He is also a Past Chairperson of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, the leading international association for independently owned funeral homes.

Over the years Todd has been very involved in his community in volunteer positions.  He is a Past President of the Chamber of Commerce and a former City Councillor in Brandon.  He has been a director on numerous boards including the Wascana Country Club in Regina.

Since 2004, Todd and his family have resided in Regina and he has been a Pats season ticket holder and sky box owner for several years. Todd is married to Kerry and they have three children – daughter Drew and sons Brock and Luke.


Gavin Semple


Brandt Group of Companies

Gavin Semple joined Brandt Industries Ltd. in 1972, and today is the Chairman and shareholder of the Brandt Group of Companies, Saskatchewan’s largest privately held company.  Brandt is a diversified manufacturing and industrial equipment distribution company with sales exceeding one billion dollars annually and employing more than 1,600 people across Canada.

Under Gavin’s leadership, Brandt has won numerous awards including Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Platinum Award and the Saskatchewan Applied Science & Technologists 2008 Outstanding Employer Award. The Brandt Group of Companies was inducted into the Saskatchewan Business Hall of Fame.

Gavin was Entrepreneur of the Year for the Prairie Region – Manufacturing Category in 1994.  He was inducted into the Canadian Professional Sales Hall of Fame in 2004, and in 2009 was inducted into the Canadian Manufacturing Hall of Fame. He has served on the Boards of Saskferco, Doepker Industries Ltd., Canada Post Corporation and Enterprise Saskatchewan.

Gavin is also active in the community, volunteering his time to a number of organizations including: Luther College Board of Regents, Paul J. Hill School of Business and the Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business. Previously he was a Director on the Boards of the Saskatchewan and Regina Chambers of Commerce, the Prairie Implement Manufacturers Association, the Regina Economic Development Authority and the Saskatchewan Safety Council.  In 2008, he was the recipient of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit and in April of 2011, he received the Award of Distinction from the Regina Chamber of Commerce.

Gavin and his wife Annette have two children, Shaun and Juanita and are the proud grandparents of Christopher, Andrew and Matthew.


Shaun Semple


Brandt Group of Companies

Shaun Semple joined Brandt Industries Ltd. in 1984 at the age of 17 and today he is the President of the Brandt Group of Companies, Saskatchewan’s largest privately held company.  Shaun started right out of high school in the sales department. It was Shaun’s job to help to grow the non-Agricultural manufacturing which led to the strategic Partnership with Ipsco(Evraz) for the last 30 years.

Shaun has worked in every Division of the company in various roles where he was responsible for the formation of Brandt’s divisional strategy. Starting in 1983, Shaun helped set up the foundation of each of those Divisions: Brandt Engineered Products, Brandt Equipment and Brandt Agricultural Products.

In 1991, Shaun applied and was granted a start-up franchise for a John Deere Construction Equipment Dealership for Saskatchewan. This quickly grew into what is today Brandt Tractor Ltd., the largest privately held Deere dealership with over one billion in sales and 27 dealerships from Maritimes to Vancouver Island with 1,200 employees. Over the years, Shaun has been responsible for many other acquisitions and start-ups.

Shaun has received many personal and corporate awards including:

  • ABEX Business Leader of the Year – 2006
  • Canada’s Top 40 under 40
  • Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Western Canada in the Distribution Category – 1999
  • Largest John Deere Dealer in the World with Revenues of over a Billion in sales

Shaun founded Brandt’s “Thanks a Billion” program ( and, since 2012, Brandt has donated $8,777,752 to 195 organizations in 92 communities across Canada through this program.

Shaun has been married for 25 years and he lives with his wife and three sons, Christopher, Andrew and Matthew, on a farm north of Regina. All three boys played high level competitive hockey and the family has always been avid fans of the Pats.


Jason Drummond

Managing Director

York Plains Investment Corp.

Jason Drummond serves as Managing Director of York Plains Investment Corp. York Plains is a diversified investment fund focusing on public and private equity as well as real estate and lending. Jason is also founder and President of DGC Investments, a private investment company with a focus on oil and gas production and processing, real estate, hospitality and agriculture.

Mr. Drummond has been involved in numerous start-up companies in various industries including energy, biofuels, real estate and the restaurant business.  Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Regina.

Jason plays an integral role in a fundraiser on the family farm just outside Regina called Hawg-A-Rama. The event raises money for local charities and sport.

Jason and his wife Kelly have six children.
