Pats Sign Import Forward Alex Geci

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats have claimed 2003-born forward Alex Geci off CHL Import Waivers and signed him to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
Geci, 18, scored a goal and two assists for three points in nine games this season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Sarnia Sting. The Topolcany, Slovakia native was drafted by Sarnia with the seventh overall pick in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, and signed with the Sting on July 23, 2020. The 6-foot-3, 193 lb. forward did not play for the Sting last season due to the cancellation of the OHL season, but previously suited up for HC Slovan Bratislava’s Under-20 team in Slovakia and Lukko’s Under-18 team in Finland during the 2019-20 season, combining for 31 points (14G-17A) 40 games.
“This is a great opportunity for us, as we’re signing a player who was highly sought after going into the 2020 CHL Import Draft,” Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock said. “We look forward to adding him to our group in Regina.”
Geci will wear #20 and will debut on Tuesday, November 23 against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Regina Pats begin a four-game road swing through Alberta starting tomorrow night in Medicine Hat. They’ll also face Lethbridge on Wednesday, Red Deer on Saturday and Calgary on Sunday. The Pats are back home on Saturday, December 4 when they host the Swift Current Broncos. They’ll be wearing special jerseys designed by CHL #LeaveYourMark jersey design contest winner Allery Lang .
