RECAP: Pats Season Ends in Game Six of the WHL Championship Series

The Seattle Thunderbirds won their first ever Ed Chynoweth Cup on Sunday night with a 4-3 overtime victory in game six at the Brandt Centre. The Pats took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a powerplay goal from Sam Steel. Seattle would tie it in the second, setting up a big third period. The Pats went ahead 3-1 on goals from Josh Mahura and Austin Wagner, the later coming with 6:48 remaining. However Seattle scored twice late and forced overtime at 3-3. 12:30 into the first overtime, Alexander True put home a rebound to clinch the championship for the Thunderbirds. Seattle outshot the Pats 43-31 in the win, Tyler Brown made 39 saves for Regina, Carl Stankowski 28 for the Thunderbirds. Seattle moves on to the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Windsor, ON.
