Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club is pleased to join with the Regina Professional Firefighters Association in an effort to “change the face of men’s health” through their “Movember” Campaign.
Pats fans can support the cause by donating to the Movember team, “Regina Professional Firefighters and The Pats” or the Pats’ “Mospace” at the official Movember website, movember.com.
“We all represent the city of Regina so it’s great that we get to partner with the firemen,” says Pats Head Coach Pat Conacher. “It’s not only going to be a great experience for our kids, but I think for the firemen too and we hope people jump on board and support it.”
As a part of the Movember partnership, the Pats and Firefighters will each spend a day going through the other’s training regime as the Pats learn what it takes to be a firefighter and vice versa.
Pats Captain Colton Jobke says the team is excited to be part of the cause. “It’s a good cause and we as players and an organization here support it. We’re getting off to a slow start here (growing moustaches), a lot of us, but we’re looking forward to working with the firefighters.” [Audio Attached]
The Firefighters will be at the Pats’ Movember wrap-up game December 1st to “pass the helmet” around the Brandt Centre to raise more “cash for ‘staches”.
Captain Mark Moroz on participating in the campaign, “Movember makes sense for us, as some of our members have survived prostate cancer already and many more of us are at high risk because of the hazards of our job. Our partnership with the Regina Pats this year is very exciting, as together we can raise even MO’ money and awareness, and help make men’s health issues a priority for everyone. Smoke, Sticks & ‘Staches will make this the MOst successful Movember yet.”
November 29th, the Firefighters hold the Smoke & ‘Staches Movember Party at O’Hanlons Pub. The event features appetizers, moustache stout drink specials, live music by firefighter band, FIRE ENGINE 5A, and a photobooth by Chris Graham Photography for candid moustache shots. Admission also includes an entry for the iPhone 5 draw that night. Tickets are $25, and are available at: ticketedge.ca.
