The Regina Pats (13-12-2-0) are back on the road on Friday night to take on the Red Deer Rebels (9-15-3-0). Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. Regina time at the Enmax Centrium. The Pats are coming off a 7-3 loss in Spokane on Saturday to wrap up their U.S. Division road trip. The Rebels were last in action on Tuesday and lost a sixth straight game, 6-5 in overtime, at home to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Tonight is the fourth and final meeting between the two clubs in 2017-18, the Pats hold a 2-0-1-0 record in the season series. The Lead Up: Pats wrap road trip with loss in Spokane
The Regina Pats finished their U.S. Division road trip with a 7-3 loss in Spokane to the Chiefs on Saturday night. Spokane scored the game’s first five goals, four of them on the powerplay and one shorthanded. Regina got one back off the stick of Nick Henry, his second, and it was 5-1 Chiefs after two periods. The Pats made it a game early in the third when Sam Steel scored his 10th and Matt Bradley his 17th to get the Pats to within two. Regina had three straight powerplays after that but were unable to score and the Chiefs would add two late to make it 7-3 and that was the final. Regina was outshot 32-23 in the loss, the powerplay was oh for five and the penalty kill one for five. Nick Henry and Matt Bradley led the way with three point nights while Tyler Brown and Max Paddock combined to make 25 saves.

The Pats hold a 2-0-1-0 record against Red Deer heading into tonight’s fourth and final meeting of the season. Regina has won both home games in the season series and lost once in overtime in Red Deer. Dawson Davidson leads the Pats with two goals and four assists in the three games while Josh Mahura and Emil Oksanen have five points and Sam Steel and Wyatt Sloboshan have four. Tyler Brown has started all three games and holds a 2.64 goals against average against the Rebels. Red Deer is led by Jack Flaman who has scored twice and has an assist against the Pats. Kristian Reichel, Lane Zablocki and Alexander Alexeyev are next with two points apiece. The Pats enter Friday, 13 points back of the East Division leading Moose Jaw Warriors while the Rebels are nine points back of the Central Division leading Medicine Hat Tigers.
Pats Acquire Mahovlich from Kamloops
The Regina Pats Hockey Club acquired 18-year-old forward Scott Mahovlich from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a seventh round pick in 2018 on Tuesday. Mahovlich (6’2, 187) is playing in his second full season in the WHL, last year with the Blazers he scored one goal and had four assists in 48 games. The Abbotsford, B.C. product has one assist through 14 games this year with Kamloops. Mahovlich was listed by the Blazers in 2016, he played his minor hockey at the Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford and won a CSSHL Championship in 2014-15. He will make his Pats debut on Friday night in Red Deer.
