Pats Hit The Road

January 07, 2011

The Regina Pats put a three game winning streak on the line in Red Deer tonight, puck drops at the Enmax Centrium at 8:30pm.

Head to Head
This is the 3rd of 4 meetings of the season between the Red Deer Rebels and the Regina Pats, their first was in early October in a heart breaking 6-5 loss to the Rebels. The Pats had a 5-2 lead heading into the 3rd, but the Rebels scored 4 straight times, including the overtime winner for the 6-5 win. Thomas Frazee scored his first ever career hat trick and added an assist in the loss, while Myles Bell picked his 4th goal of the season.
This is the first time that these two teams have met since a mid-November trade that saw the Pats pick up forward Lane Scheidl from the Rebels in exchange for goaltender Dawson Guhle.

In their last meeting, the Regina Pats found themselves down 2-1 late in the 3rd period December 11th in Red Deer. With 18.3 seconds left Pats captain Garrett Mitchell slid the puck just past former Pat goaltender Dawson Guhle to send in to overtime. In extra time, the Pats were able to kill off a 4-on-3 Rebel power play and force a shootout. Jordan Weal, Colin Reddin and Thomas Frazee all scored in the shootout, while Matt Hewitt had to just stop one of three Rebel shooters for his third win of the season.

Overtime solved nothing, so the Pats went to their shootout Kings in Weal and Colin Reddin. Both WHL vets scored, while Damien Ketlo stopped 2 of 3 Hitmen shooters for the 4-3 victory and the Pats third straight win and 4th in 5 games.
